What do you mean by “request”?
On the server-side, a request refers to a communication between a client (typically a user's browser) and a server. It is sent when a user visits a web page, interacts with an element, or when a script (like a tracking tag) triggers an action.
In the context of server-side tracking, a request thus involves sending a set of information (such as a page view, a click, a conversion, etc.) to an intermediary server — for example, a collection server or a Tag Server — before potentially being forwarded to third-party tools (Google Analytics, Facebook, etc.). Each partner has a specific view that accounts for the requests. The sum of these requests corresponds to the total server-side hits.
